Examples on the screens
These are original examples with made-up senders and businesses. Yellow words show; the text after [cut] is hidden in that view.
How we measure: each screen is drawn at its real size (the phone layout is 390 by 844 points; Gmail on a laptop is a 1280-pixel-wide window), and the tool counts how many characters fit before the text is cut off. Reference counts were measured in Chromium on macOS with Apple’s system font and the bundled Roboto font on 19 October 2026. These are drawn-screen measurements, not tests on real phones. Your fonts, phone model and text size settings can move the cut. Live readouts use the fonts in your browser.
Workshop update
The subject states the change. The preview puts the entrance first, so that instruction stays near the start even when the rest is cut.

Customer reply
With the preview field empty, the email's opening words appear in the notification. The reply answers the paper question before asking a new one.

Email on the lock screen
The notification shows the sender, subject and opening text together. Read the visible words without opening the email. Check that the sender is recognisable and the main point makes sense before the cut.
These mockups use email fields. Change your sender name, subject and preview text, or leave preview text empty to use the body's opening.
Notification and inbox previews
The same email has different space on the lock screen and in the Gmail inbox. Switch between them before settling on your wording. A detail visible in the notification can disappear from the inbox preview.
If an instruction matters, move it earlier. In the workshop example, the preview starts with the entrance to use. The room detail follows.
Phone settings and visible text
These drawings assume the notification text is visible. A recipient can hide notification content on the lock screen. Their phone settings decide whether the preview appears at all.
The tool does not reproduce grouped alerts or AI notification summaries. Send a test email to your own phone to check the email app and notification settings you use.
Save or share an email mockup
Download the selected screen as a PNG with an emailpreviewtool.com credit. The image is made in your browser.
A share link opens a read-only copy. Your email is held in the part of the link after #, which is not sent to the website's server. Anyone you give the link to can read the email.
